Over the years and on countless occasions, I have been asked for information on child custody and divorce and about custody books. This was a first-time opportunity to review a child custody book written by a non-professional. Needless to say, I was impressed.
In How To Stop Hating Your Ex So You Can Co-Parent in Peace, you will find a lot of what is missing in other child custody books, articles, and message boards. It describes the essential details of 'how to get through it' citing honest accounts of failures and successes.
Author Rene Ashton offers detailed accounts of her personal divorce experience, co-parenting difficulties and the steps she used to overcome these challenges.
In each domain of her co-parenting book she also includes exercises for dealing with specific kinds of co-parenting conflict. Ironically, some of what she has written about is similar to the advice and homework that I have given divorcing parents struggling with co-parenting conflict.
After reviewing her book, it was clear to me that every divorcing parent I have worked with has asked similar questions and had similar concerns to those that Ms. Ashton addresses in her book.
For this reason, I can wholeheartedly endorse the benefits of this book as a 'must read' resource and workbook for any parent going through a divorce.
